James 1 says:
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds…
God, are you seriously asking me to disregard what I feel – and then BE JOYFUL that I’m hurting?!?
What joy could I possibly find in all these painful events and heartbreaking challenges?
If you really love me like you say, why don’t you stop these things from happening?
Check out this week’s video to explore how all these ideas converge into a profound gift of love from the heart of a good father:
- Hind sight
- Painful Events
- Doing it all again
- Pure joy
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Isaiah 61:1-3 tells us that God wants to:
…to bind up the brokenhearted …
…to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve…
to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of joy instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
